Our Story

Opened as a small souvenir shop in 1964 by Michael and Margaret Moriarty, Moriarty’s has evolved to become one of Ireland’s leading gift stores.

Located at the entrance of the Gap of Dunloe just outside Killarney, it is a bright and spacious store which caters for large tour groups and individual shoppers alike, showcasing some of Ireland’s finest craftsmanship.

Moriarty’s specialises in the sale of traditional items such as handmade tweeds, knits and symbolic jewellery.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our goods and also – as importantly – our exemplary customer service. Our staff members have an average of over 20 years service with the family.

Moriarty’s is an Irish family business, we are proud to provide ethically sourced products, designed by Irish craft makers. We use 100% pure wool as it is the best fiber for low impact fashion.

We support Irish design in clothing and jewelry.

How To Wear a Claddagh Ring

How to wear the Claddagh ring properly is very important because of the meaning of the ring. If you are married you want others to know you are in a loving relationship. Or if you are on the look out to  meet someone new you want potential suitors to be able to tell you are open to meeting them and looking for a relationship.

Legend of The Banshee

Death is a common theme in Irish mythology. The Banshee, for example, is a spirit who appears before the death of someone in their family. Banshees are usually described as female and travel through sound or smell (hence their name).
