Weaving an Ancient Craft
Weaving is among the oldest crafts known, and it is a form of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns, or threads, are interlaced. The warping frame is the first stage in the weaving journey. Once a pattern is designed, this determines the count and colours of the wrap threads, which are stretched across the loom. Warp threads run parallel to the length of the finished fabric, giving it shape and strength. The second set runs at right angles to the lengthwise setting, creating a pattern or motif in the textile.
